Description

Partly-printed DS, one page, 15 x 9.5, March 20, 1885. Pine Creek Railway Company bond for $1000 issued to M. L. Bacon, signed along the bottom in ink by William Kissam Vanderbilt and Chauncey Depew as trustees. Nicely cloth-matted and framed with a portrait of Vanderbilt (featuring a facsimile signature) and a plaque to an overall size of 30 x 21. In fine condition.

William Kissam Vanderbilt (1849-1920) was the son of William Henry Vanderbilt who managed his family's railroad empire and raced thoroughbred horses. Chauncey Depew (1834-1928) was long associated with the Vanderbilts, making his fortune as a lawyer and railroad executive before entering national politics.
