Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 15.25 x 19, March 8, 1911. President Taft appoints Charles S. McWhorter as a “Lieutenant junior grade, in the Navy.” Signed at the conclusion by William H. Taft, and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy George von L. Meyer. The lower vignette bears the original embossed blue Navy Department seal. Framed and in fine condition. Charles McWhorter (1883-1954) was a U.S. Naval officer of both World Wars, who served as commander aboard the USS McDermet destroyer.
