From the estate of Apollo 12 moonwalker Alan Bean—an award plaque for The Robert J. Collier Trophy for 1973, which was “awarded to the Skylab Program with special recognition to Captain Alan L. Bean, USN, as a member of the Skylab Crews for proving beyond question the value of man in future explorations of space.” Presented by the National Aeronautic Association and National Aviation Club on June 4, 1974. The award is displayed on its original wooden 12 x 15 mount and is in fine condition. Established in 1911 by publisher and air sports pioneer Robert J. Collier, the Collier Trophy is considered to be one of the most prestigious honors in the aerospace field. Other notables in receipt of this prized trophy include Orville Wright, Charles Lindbergh, Howard Hughes, Chuck Yeager, and Neil Armstrong. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Amy Bean, the daughter of Alan Bean.
