Important financier (1734-1806) who signed the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and Constitution. Manuscript DS, signed “Rob't Morris,” one page, 7.75 x 3, August 20, 1795. Promissory note signed by the 'Financier of the American Revolution,' in part: "Three years after date I promise to pay to Mr. John Nicholson or Order, Three thousand Dollars for value received." Boldly signed at the conclusion by Morris, and endorsed on the reverse by Nicholson. In very good condition, with staining, toning, and some minor edge chipping. Accompanied by an engraved portrait.
