UK PYE Records vinyl pressing of the 1961 Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry single ‘But I Do / Just Me and My Baby,’ which was formerly owned by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, who has signed in black ballpoint, “Ringo,” a total of five times: twice on side 1 and three times on side 2. Starr would have owned the record when he lived at 10 Admiral Grove with his mother Elsie and his stepfather Harry Graves. After Starr had made it with the Beatles he bought his parents a new home in Gateacre, Liverpool, and the record was taken there when Elsie moved. The record was subsequently given to the young nephew of her neighbor. In fine condition, with poor signature contrast. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a brief letter of provenance: “My dad was given these as gifts from Elsie, Ringo’s mum, for odd jobs when he was a teenager; his aunt Mrs. M. Trindle lived next door to Elsie.” The Beatles were big fans of ‘Frogman,’ who was one of the opening acts during the group’s 1964 tour of the USA.
