Description

Original press kit for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the first crewed international space mission, carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975, signed on the attractive color folder in black felt tip by John Young. The folder, 9.5 x 12, contains two Fleetwood philatelic presentation cards honoring ASTP, a 13-page packet detailing “Service Propulsion,” a mission information poster released by IBM, a 7-page booklet from RCA, and June and July 1975 issues of the Spaceport News and Insight newsletters. In fine condition, with light edge toning.

The consignor notes that this press kit and its signature were obtained directly from the ASTP press conference held in Cape Canaveral on July 14, 1975. ‘John Young was the moderator of the Press Conference. After it ended, he autographed many items for reporters and collectors.” Accompanying the folder is an original color candid photo from the press conference, which shows Young seated at the dais below the NASA ‘worm’ logo.
