Description

Custom-tailored suit made for John Petersen, drummer of the San Francisco–based rock group The Beau Brummels (1964) and worn on the television shows Shindig and Hullabaloo, among others. Both appearances can be seen on YouTube where they are performing their hit song 'Laugh, Laugh.' It is also seen on the album cover for 'The Very Best Of The Beau Brummels: The Complete Singles.' For a short while, they were well known, produced by Sly Stone, and responsible for bringing an original sound to combat the British invasion. The band also appeared in two motion pictures as well as an episode of The Flintstones. Tailor's tags inside the suit read, "Murphy & Hartelius, Tailors of Taste, San Mateo California," and "Styled for John Peterson," with another reading: "Tailored for: Name: John Petersen, Date: 11/27/64, No. 62469." The costume exhibits some very small moth holes. Accompanied by a large color 12 x 12 album cover slick plus a black-and-white 8 x 10 of Petersen at his drums, dressed in the suit.
