Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15 x 9.25, November 10, 1824. President Monroe grants John F. Seller of Putnam County, Indiana, a tract of land "in the district of Crawfordsville and State of Indiana containing eighty acres." Nicely signed at the conclusion in ink by President James Monroe, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office George Graham. The white paper seal affixed at the lower left remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with small stains to the upper right corner, and multiple vertical folds. John Finley Seller (1791-1875) was a hardworking Kentucky native and generous Presbyterian who fought in the War of 1812 and later helped settle the town of Greencastle, Indiana.
