Description

TLS as governor of California, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal State of California (Governor's Office) letterhead, August 4, 1967. Letter to attorney William D. Evers, in part: “I have just been informed that the Senate has confirmed your qualifications for appointment as a member of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission. Please note date of your term expiration on enclosed memo. It is a pleasure for me to send you the enclosed commission, together with an oath of office and a memorandum of what is necessary in order for you to qualify under this commission.” In fine condition.

Evers (1927-2017), a fourth-generation Californian, graduated from University of California at Berkley School of Law in 1952. He had a long career in private practice and public service, and served five years on the BCDC, including three as chair. During that time, he led efforts to create the San Francisco Waterfront Plan.
