Rossman of Brookline, Massachusetts, in full: “This is to advise you that Mr. Joseph Kane of Boston, who has been interested in your case, has requested me to determine just what your prospects are of securing an appointment from the register for Research Psychologist (Psychophysics). I have contacted the U. S. Civil Service Board of Examiners at New London, and shall let you hear from me when I receive a report from that office.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, which bears Kennedy’s stamped congressional franking signature.
Irma Rossman (1926-1968) was trying to secure a job as a Research Psychologist in Psychophysics at the U.S. Naval Medical Research Laboratory on the U.S. Naval Submarine Base at New London, Connecticut. In 1949 she had graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Master of Science degree in Psychology, and in 1953 she would earn her doctorate degree from the State University of Iowa. She later worked at The Johnston Training and Research Center, a mental institution at Bordentown, New Jersey.
