Cunfer, President of the Young Democratic Club of Lancaster County, in full: “Thank you very much for your letter of the 9th. I more than appreciated your invitation and wish I could accept it. Unfortunately, my schedule for next month is a very full one, and I am not in a position to make any additional commitments. I regret it very much.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope with Truman's stamped franking signature.
Ralph J. Cunfer (1928-2015), a Pennsylvania native, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a shop bookkeeper in Allentown, and later owned a popular hotel in Lititz. During this time he was active in the Democratic Party and he wrote to other political figures such as John F. Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt. Cunfer later was a Pentecostal pastor near Los Angeles, California.
