Hand-addressed and free-franked mailing panel, 5.25 x 3.5, addressed in the hand of Buchanan to “Hon: Henry Shippen, Meadville, Pennsylvania” and franked in the upper right, "Free, James Buchanan." Judge Henry Shippen moved to Meadville in 1825 and died in 1839, which dates this envelope to that period. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light staining. Accompanied by an engraving of Buchanan bearing a preprinted signature.
