Description

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15 x 13, April 4, 1860. President Buchanan appoints Robert Barth, of St. Louis as “Vice-Consul of the Kingdom of Wurttemberg for the States of Missouri and Illinois.” Signed neatly at the conclusion by James Buchanan and countersigned by Secretary of State Lewis Cass. The lower left is embossed with the official seal. In very good to fine condition, with complete separation along the central vertical fold, repaired with archival tape on the reverse.
