President Hayes directs the Secretary of State to “cause the Seal of the United States to be affixed to “warrants for the pardon of A. J. Harrison, alias Dan Smith, Joseph Swann, Michael Schubert, Charles Schwartz, Levi James, and Francis Hungerford.” Two of the names, “Edwin N. Rice” and “Alexander Clarke,” have been struck through in red ink. Signed neatly at the conclusion by Rutherford B. Hayes. In fine condition.
