American writer (1842–c.1914) best known for his vivid short stories (including the classic 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge') and his satirical 'The Devil's Dictionary.' In 1913, while traveling with Pancho Villa's troops during the Mexican Revolution, Bierce disappeared; his ultimate fate remains a mystery. ANS in pencil, one page on the reverse of one of his personal 3 x 1.5 visiting cards, April 27, 1908. Handwritten note of introduction, in full: "S. E. Moffett, Esqr., introducing Mr. E. Alexander Powell." In fine condition, with light brushing to the pencil. Powell was a writer and journalist, who would become best known for his work as a war correspondent in World War I.
