Handwritten letter to Chicago politician and future Secretary of the Treasury Franklin MacVeagh, in part: “It would give me great pleasure to visit you at your home if I came to Chicago on the 23rd inst., but I do not see how I can bring it about. I must leave home on Sunday and considering the work on hand Saturday, I think I had better stay at the hotel with the remainder of the ‘visiting Statesmen’ until the time of my departure.” In very good to fine condition, with light toning, and splitting to the fragile folds. Accompanied by the original handwritten mailing envelope.
