Description

World War I-dated TLS, one page, 6.25 x 9.25, The Assistant Secretary of the Navy letterhead, February 2, 1916. Brief letter to H. A. O’Leary of Brooklyn, in full: “Will you please send to me at the Navy Department the items I have marked on the enclosed list of books and pamphlets.” In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, and scattered light staining. A particularly early letter from FDR, ensconced in his role as the Navy Department’s second-in-charge, a position that assumed greater and greater responsibilities as the United States prepared to enter World War I.
