ALS signed "Rutherford B. Hayes," one page, 5.5 x 8.5, January 21, 1889. Handwritten letter to "Col. & Mrs. Skiles," in part: "Mrs. Hayes joins me in warm and heartfelt congratulations to you on the happy event of Wednesday evening and in all good wishes to the young people. We regret exceedingly that we cannot attend. Mrs. Hayes joins me in a small souvenir of the occasion to the Bride. 'For Auld Lang Syne.'" In fine condition, with some very faint scattered foxing. A scarce and desirable example of Hayes's full signature.
