Hardcover with pictorial plate mounted to font cover, 11.75 x 14, 47 pages. The book features 14 full-page color plates (including the frontispiece) with numerous in-text color illustrations and pictorial endpapers by Parrish. Book condition: VG-/None, with rubbing and light wrinkling to pictorial cover, binding cracked at pp. 42/43, notation to ownership page, and some light soiling to textblock. This lavish volume, the last that Parrish illustrated, has been recognized as 'one of the greatest of American illustrated books' (Porter 84).
