Two rare items: a circa 1910s vintage semi-glossy 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of Jack Johnson in a formidable full-length pose with fists up, with text to the lower border, “Jack Johnson, Heavyweight Champion of the World.” Encapsulated and graded by SGC as “40 VG 3.” Also included is a vintage oversized 11 x 3.5 postcard featuring the poster for the historic Jack Johnson vs. Jim Jeffries boxing match in Reno, Nevada, on July 4, 1910, which was later coined the ‘Battle of The Century.’ The postcard also features a cast of 14 other famed early boxers, including John L. Sullivan, Jim Corbett, Tom Sharkey, and others, a group touted as the “Stars of Pugdom.” In overall very good to fine condition, with a central vertical fold and minor corner loss to the long postcard.
