Presley," payable to his spiritual advisor and personal hairstylist Larry Geller for $460.60, October 17, 1966. A notation to the left margin reads: "Barber & Scalp treatments for Elvis during 'Easy Come – Easy Go,' 10/10 – 10/16/66." Endorsed on the reverse by Geller. In fine condition.
Larry Geller (born 1939) was Presley’s spiritual advisor and personal hairstylist, whom the King hired on April 30, 1964, during the filming of Roustabout. Geller's career began when he joined forces with famed hairdresser Jay Sebring, opening the first men's hair salon in America in 1959. Beginning in 1964, Geller left Sebring to accompany Elvis and style his hair for entertainment engagements like concert performances, guest receptions at Graceland, and nearly a dozen film productions, which included Girl Happy, Double Trouble, Easy Come, Easy Go, Frankie and Johnny, Harum Scarum, Paradise, Hawaiian Style, Tickle Me, Clambake, and Spinout. In addition to haircare, Geller introduced Elvis to many new-age ideas on religion, philosophy, and life, eventually becoming ‘the man in whom [Elvis] confided in matters of the spirit.’ Geller prepared Elvis’ hair for the last time for his funeral in August 1977.
