British political activist and leader of the British suffragette movement (1858-1928) who founded the Women's Social and Political Union and helped women win the right to vote. Rare vintage matte-finish 3.25 x 4.75 oval portrait of Emmeline Pankhurst by Martin Jacobette, affixed to the original engraved 8.5 x 10.75 studio mount, which is signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “For Freedom, E. Pankhurst." In very good to fine condition, with light staining and soiling to the wide borders. Only the second Pankhurst item we have ever offered.
