"Golf lost a very special man"—Tiger Woods remembers Hall of Famer Ken Venturi

TLS, one page, 7 x 10, personal letterhead, June 3, 2013. Heartfelt letter to Kathleen Venturi, the widow of World Golf Hall of Famer Ken Venturi. In full: "I would personally like to express my deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your husband. Ken's accomplishments, both on and off the golf course, were exemplary, and his recent induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame was certainly deserved. For me, and a lot of Tour players and fans alike, Ken was the voice of golf. He was knowledgeable, passionate and always a gentleman...attributes that made him admired by so many people. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Golf lost a very special man." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a letter of provenance from Kathleen Venturi.

A noteworthy professional golfer and golf broadcaster, Ken Venturi won 14 events on the PGA Tour including one major, the U.S. Open in 1964. After retiring due to injury, he spent 35 years working as a color commentator and lead analyst for CBS Sports—the longest lead analyst stint in sports broadcasting history.
