Description

Impressive original painting of Derek Jeter entitled "A Baseball Card That Never Was: Derek Jeter (1948 Leaf)" by artist Arthur K. Miller, mixed media on a 31.5 x 38.5 canvas banner, featuring a close-up portrait of the New York Yankees icon in pinstripes against a red background, with "Derek Jeter" in block letters at the bottom, inspired by the classic design of 1948 Leaf baseball cards. Stylistically signed in the upper right by the artist, "Miller," and also titled, dated, and signed on the back in black felt tip, "'A Baseball Card That Never Was: Derek Jeter (1948 Leaf),' 2017, Arthur K. Miller." Matted and framed to an overall size of 35.5 x 42. In fine condition.

An artist from York Beach, Maine, Arthur K. Miller's paintings are collected internationally. They have graced the covers of many publications, and some were featured in a one-man show at the National Baseball Hall of Fame for more than five years. In this series of banners, Miller utilized mixed media on raw canvas in a 'faux-antique' style developed to capture the essence of pop cultural artifacts once lost to the ages.
