Description

American entrepreneur, abolitionist, and philanthropist (1795-1873) whose legacy lives on in numerous foundations and institutions, such as Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University. ALS signed “J. Hopkins,” one page, 4.75 x 7.25, July 20, 1866. Handwritten letter to "Mr. Anderson," in full: "Cabott & Etting of Phil'a are mark'd on our Book 2/2—which means limited means—I have never heard any thing against their integrity—and should suppose a cash transaction with them would be safe." Cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 25 x 20. In fine condition.
