Set of three commemorative medals issued for the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics, including a bronze-tone medal (21 gm) and two silver-tone medals (both 22 gm), which all measure 38 mm in diameter. The medals share the same designs: the front depicts the goddess Athena in the center surrounded by raised text (translated) “In honor of the fatherland, for the glory of the sport”; and the reverse features the Olympic bell embossed with the German eagle gripping the Olympic rings, with the border inscribed, “Olympische Spiele Berlin MCMXXXVI,” and a small swastika at the bottom center. The edges bear the maker marks.
