Five TLSs by J. Edgar Hoover, two signed "J. E. Hoover" and three signed "J. Edgar Hoover," each one page, Federal Bureau of Investigation letterhead, dated from 1942 to 1965. Hoover replies to offers of assistance, declines an invitation to a speaking engagement, and sends his autograph. The two early letters are in very good condition, with toning, areas of thin paper, and a clipped-off top to one of them; the three later letters are all in fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the 1965 letter.
