Description

American writer (1903-1968) who is best known for his crime fiction; his story It Had to Be Murder served as the source for Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window. Program for the Columbia University Players' Varsity Show, "His Majesty, The Queen," at the Waldorf-Astoria, March 9-13, 1926, 7.75 x 10.5, signed on the front cover and inside in fountain pen by numerous members of the cast and crew; Woolrich signs inside as a member of the 'Pony Ballet.' In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the upper right corner and scattered creasing to covers. A rare, early autograph by Woolrich, who attended Columbia University but left in 1926 without graduating when his first novel, Cover Charge, was published.
