(Walt Disney Studios, 1940) Group of three appealing original production model drawings featuring cherubs from Fantasia, as featured in the film's 'Pastoral Symphony' sequence, accomplished in charcoal and colored pencil. Includes: a drawing of six cupid babies on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper, with four full-bodied poses and two faces; a rough sketch of a cherub in front-facing and profile poses, with an 'action' image of a crawling baby, plus a rough sketch of Donald Duck, on untrimmed 15.5 x 12.5 animation paper; and a series of seven small horn-playing cupid figures in a row, on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper. Individual image sizes range from about 1 x 2 to 3.5 x 5.5. In overall very good to fine condition, with edge tears and losses to the page that also features Donald Duck.
Set to music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fantasia's 'Pastoral Symphony' sequence is set in a mythical Greco-Roman world of colorful centaurs and centaurettes, cupids, cherubs, fauns, and other classical figures. They gather for a festival to honor Bacchus, the god of wine, which is interrupted by Zeus, who creates a storm and directs Vulcan to forge lightning bolts for him to throw at the attendees.
