Circa 1960s autograph book, 3.5″ x 5″, signed inside on the same page in black ballpoint by the Beatles —“Beatles, George Harrison,” “Ringo Starr,” “Paul McCartney,” and “John Lennon.” The book also contains signatures of musical artists from the era like Gene Vincent, Brian Hyland, Little Eve, John Leyton, Tony Orlando, Freddie and the Dreamers (twice), The Innocents, The Searchers, The Tremeloes, The Undertakers, and several others. The consignor notes that the autographs were obtained by a policeman at King George’s Hall in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, on June 9, 1963, dating to the last show of their UK tour with Roy Orbison; incidentally, the lyric ‘4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire’ was also part of the 1967 Beatles song ‘A Day in the Life,’ which appeared on the group’s 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In fine condition.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter from the daughter of the original recipient: “The signatures are in an autograph book along with various other autographs that were obtained by my father-in-law in the early sixties at St Georges Hall, Blackburn. My father-in-law, Ronald James Ackers, was a constable with the police force in Blackburn. The police station adjoined St. Georges Hall which he could access by means of a corridor which linked the two buildings. He was able to gain access to the various groups and artists that played at the venue as he was responsible for security at the hall.”
