Letter to John Davies, in full: "On behalf of His Majesty's Government I desire to thank you for the further gift of £1,000 which you have sent towards the reduction of the National Debt and to express my warm appreciation of your generosity and patriotism. I propose to send a notice of acknowledgement to the Press but I will of course respect your wish to remain anonymous." In fine condition, with faint toning along the intersecting folds.
