Ultra-rare limited edition of Anthony Eden's prescient 1938 speech on England's role in Europe, presented "in recollection of much stress of mind and toil endured together in abortive attempts to awaken the appeasers"

British politician (1897-1977) who served as prime minister following Churchill. Rare signed book: England: A Speech by The Right Honourable Anthony Eden, M.C., M.P., at the Festival Banquet of the Royal Society of St. George on April the 26th, 1938. First edition. Coed y Maen, Montgomery, Wales: privately printed by Peter Harvey and bound by Nesta Williams Wynn, 1939. Leatherbound hardcover, 8 x 10.5, 12 pages. Boldly signed and inscribed on a free end page in fountain pen to Conservative politician Paul Emrys-Evans, "To Paul, Who was one of the first to see that 'the danger of signals are up in many colours and in many lands,' in recollection of much stress of mind and toil endured together in abortive attempts to awaken the appeasers, from, Anthony, November 1942." Loosely laid-in is a transmittal letter to Emrys-Evans from a Foreign Office secretary. In fine condition, with soiling and slight wear to the covers.
