Commemorative glass soccer ball souvenir from the Amsterdam 1928 Summer Olympics, measuring approximately 4.75˝ in diameter, imprinted with black text: "Olympiade 1928, Amsterdam." A hole on top allows the piece to be used as a vase. In fine condition, with slight rubbing to the text. The 1928 Olympic soccer tournament represented the last Olympic football tournament before the inception of the FIFA World Cup—a response to the IOC's requirement that players be amateurs—which was held for the first time in 1930.
