Scarce original German-language 3.5 x 5.75 season pass for all ‘Ice Sports’ at the Garmisch 1936 Winter Olympics. Granting entry throughout the Games, the pass was issued as No. 43 for ‘Reserved Seating’ in the covered seating area of the Olympia-Kunsteisstadion for all ice sports events, and ‘standing room’ for all other sports, between February 6 and 16, 1936. Includes its rare gray vinyl season pass holder with gilt-stamped logo of the IV Olympic Winter Games. In fine condition.
The 'ice sports' of the 1936 Winter Olympiad consisted of speed skating, figure skating, and ice hockey, with Norwegian skaters winning four out of seven gold medals (including Sonja Henie winning her third consecutive gold) and the British national ice hockey team pulling off a major upset when they won the gold medal and became the first team ever to win an Olympic, World, and European Championships and the first to win all three in the same year. They were the first team to stop Canada from winning the Olympic ice hockey gold, following Canada's four consecutive gold medals.
