Description

Serbian American physicist and physical chemist (1858-1935) who is best known for his numerous patents, including a means of greatly extending the range of long-distance telephone communication known as the 'Pupin coil'; he was also a founding member of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), which later became NASA. Scarce TLS signed “M. I. Pupin,” one page, 7.75 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 17, 1929. Letter to J. P. Kane, Secretary of the International Exposition of American Import Trade, in full: "My health is not as good as it used to be, and my activity must be limited to a minimum. I cannot join any new committees in which I am expected to take an active part. If, with this understanding, you wish to include my name in your Honorary Advisory Committee, I have no objection." In fine condition.
