Description

Revolutionary War general, first United States Secretary of War, and founder of the military school that became West Point (1750-1806). ADS, one page, 7.75 x 6.25, February 11, 1794. Handwritten pay order from Henry Knox, directing the “Cashier of the bank of the United States” to pay “Ja’s Reynolds or bearer eight dollars.” Signed below by Knox, and countersigned at the conclusion by Henry Reynolds on behalf of James Reynolds. The document is affixed by its left edge to a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition.
