Pratt," one page, 11 x 7, February 26, 1896, for 100 shares of preferred stock in the Pratt & Whitney Company; and a DS signed "Amos Whitney," one page, 11 x 7, December 6, 1898, for 10 shares of preferred stock in the Pratt & Whitney Company. Both retain their blank original receipts affixed to the left side. In fine condition, with usual cancellation holes touching the signatures.
Francis A. Pratt (1827-1902) and Amos Whitney (1832-1920) were mechanical engineers and inventors who co-founded the Pratt & Whitney Company, which manufactured machine tools, tools for the makers of sewing machines, and gun-making machinery for use by the Union Army during the Civil War. In fine condition, with usual cancellation holes touching the signatures.
