Early American edition of a classic book: The Tour of the World in 80 Days. An early issue (same year as the first), but with the name of translator George M. Towle appearing on the title page. Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1873. Hardcover bound in the publisher's burnt orange cloth with gilt-stamped decoration and facsimile signature, 4.5 x 6, 291 pages. The frontispiece features a wood-engraved frontispiece of the sailing vessel Le Saint Michel, with Verne's facsimile signature below. Book condition: VG-/None, with bumped corners, fraying to spine ends, and slightly cocked spine. Often translated as 'Around the World in Eighty Days,' this is one of Verne's most acclaimed adventure novels.
