Irish political leader (1775-1847) best known for his tireless efforts on behalf of Catholic Emancipation and the repeal of the Act of Union which combined Ireland and Great Britain. Hand-addressed and free franked address panel, 4.25 x 3.25, addressed by O'Connell to "John Whitmore Esq., Clapham Common, Surrey, England,” and franked in the lower left, "Daniel O'Connell." Also dated across the top by O'Connell, "1839, Dublin April one," and canceled with a "Free" postmark dated April 3, 1839. In fine condition.
