TLS in German, signed “A. Einstein,” one page, 8.5 x 11, May 9, 1935. Letter to Dr. Rudolf Wittenberg, author of the anti-war play The Ostriches. In full (translated): "Thank you very much for your kind invitation. Unfortunately, I was obliged to do something else on all the days you specified. When I'm in New York for a few days, I'll try to see your play." In very good to fine condition, with multiple intersecting folds, general handling wear, and torn file holes to the left edge. A desirable letter pertaining to Einstein's pacifist inclinations.
