Hollywood film director and writer (1892-1963) who directed comedies and film noir films across four decades. He joined the American Communist Party in 1937 and, unable to find work in the United States, moved to France. In 1951, after a decade as a member of the Communist Party, Tuttle gave 36 names to the House Un-American Activities Committee. Rare original self-portrait sketch by Frank Tuttle, accomplished in black ink on an off-white 11 x 8.25 album page, which is signed and inscribed, "To Ottilie, Sincerely, Frank Tuttle." In fine condition, with a faint block of toning. The first time we've offered Tuttle in any format.
