Handwritten letter to Judge Edwards Pierrepont, in full: "My time has been so occupied since the opening of the session that my private letters have received no attention. I thank you cordially for your kind note of the 6th inst. I expect to go to New York tonight or tomorrow & hope to have have [sic] the pleasure of seeing you while I am there." Removably encapsulated in a mylar sleeve. In fine condition, with a complete separation to hinge. Accompanied by the original Executive Mansion mailing envelope, addressed in Arthur's hand. Pierrepont had briefly served as a reform-minded attorney general in the Grant administration, before being removed and appointed as minister to Great Britain.
