Description

Six American presidents — Coolidge, Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Carter, and Bush — with over 300 signatures from the 47th United States Congress

Impressive early leather-bound autograph album, 7 x 8.25, containing approximately 300 ink signatures of notable late 19th-century American politicians, many of which stem from the 47th United States Congress, and a total of six presidential autographs that were added to the album at a later date. The presidents, in chronological order, include: Calvin Coolidge (loose TLS as president, White House letterhead, November 17, 1924), Harry S. Truman, who adds “This is a great book. Information on all these signatures should be obtained…Louisville, Ky., March 19, 1960,” Dwight D. Eisenhower (dated May 1960), Richard Nixon, who adds “With every good wish…Washington, D.C., May 11, 1960,” Jimmy Carter, and George Bush as president (dated January 15, 1993). Other signatures include: William Rosecrans, Robert B. Vance, Alexander H. Stephens, Thomas Cornell, Stephen D. Lindsey, Robert M. A. Hawk, Joshua G. Hall, Henry L. Morey, William W. Rice, Frederick Miles, Robert B. F. Peirce, Jonathan Chace, Samuel H. Miller, Sewall S. Farwell, Rufus R. Dawes, Ira Hazeltine, Jeremiah W. Dwight, Richard W. Townshend, Cyrus D.
