World War I-dated partly-printed DS as president, one page, 21 x 16, July 10, 1915. President Wilson appoints John Franklin Stevens as “Second Lieutenant of Cavalry in the service of the United States.” Signed neatly at the conclusion by Woodrow Wilson and countersigned by Acting Secretary of War Henry Skillman Breckinridge. The original blue War Office seal remains affixed to the lower left. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and toning.
