TLS signed “Ray,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, January 12, 1948. Letter to Edgar Carter of the H. N. Swanson Agency, in full: “Thanks for the check. Letter of agreement extending time herewith. This means that Universal is to advise me not later than January 23, 1947, whether they wish changes made in the final screenplay and if so in reasonable detail what changes they want. I had a long talk with Red Barrow Saturday afternoon about various matters and he agreed with me that the contract required Universal to specify what changes they wanted and that it was not enough for them to say merely that they wanted changes.” In fine condition. Given the date mentioned in the letter, it appears that the date in the upper right corner may be a year off, although the opposite may also be true.
