1977 UK vinyl pressing (S CBS 82000) of the Clash’s self-titled debut album, signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint, “Paul Simonon,” “Joe Strummer,” “Mick Jones,” and "Topper Headon." In fine condition. The record is included. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, who states that the signatures were obtained backstage at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield, England, on October 11, 1981.
The self-titled debut album was released in the UK on April 8, 1977, through CBS Records, however, due to record label disputes over its content, the album would not release in the US until 1979. When it did eventually release, the US version was significantly altered to include a different track listing and track order while omitting several ‘controversial’ songs in favor of non-album tracks recorded in the interim. Written and recorded over three weeks in February 1977 for a paltry £4,000, the album would go on to reach No. 12 on the UK charts, and has been included on many retrospective rankings as one of the greatest punk albums of all time. An outstanding vintage-signed example of The Clash’s historic debut album.
