Description

French composer of the late Romantic period (1848-1933) who is best known for his 17 melodies (‘art songs’), with texts by poets such as Baudelaire, Gautier, Leconte de Lisle, and Goethe. Rare vintage matte-finish 5.5 x 7.5 cabinet-style portrait photo of Henri Duparc by Eugene Pirou, signed and inscribed vertically in fountain pen, “A ma chere Madeline Dupont…H. Duparc.” In very good to fine condition, with staining and soiling to the mount, and light scratches to the image.
