Description

Two items signed by patriots from North Carolina: an ink signature, "Wm. Lenoir," on the reverse of a 6.75 x 3.5 section cut from an official document; and an ink signature, "Alex: Martin," on an off-white 5.75 x 1.75 slip clipped from a document, with partial seal retained below. In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered light staining.

William Lenoir (1751-1839) served as an officer in the Revolutionary War and later became speaker of the North Carolina Senate; Lenoir County is named in his honor. Alexander Martin (1740-1807) served as an infantry officer during the Revolution, was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, and served as the fourth and seventh Governor of North Carolina.
