Description

Born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini in Italy in 1897, Paul VI reigned as pope from 1963 until his death in 1978. TLS in Italian, signed “G. B. Montini, Lost.,” one page, His Holiness's Secretariat of State letterhead, May 7, 1951. Letter to Dr. Calogero Pitruzzella, in full (translated): “To satisfy the wish expressed by you, I have not failed to report to the Holy Father what you have done to repair the offense caused to the Holy Patriarch Job. The August Pontiff, pleased with the zeal you have shown in this circumstance, wholeheartedly sends you and your family the implored Apostolic Blessing, auspicious of the Lord's most elect graces. Take advantage of the opportunity to confirm me with feelings of distinct esteem.” In fine condition, with light toning from prior display.
