Inertial Navigation System for U.S. RF-4B/C/E aircraft, measuring 14.25″ x 15.5″ x 9.75″ and weighing 48 lbs, consisting of an upper CP-779 / ASN-56 navigational computer with four ports and parts label, "6605 999 2276, Ser. AMZ 009, Pt. No. 637420, Mfr. 06481," and a lower MX-7299 / ASN-74 inertial measurement unit (IMU) with air cooling port connectors, and parts label, "6605-945-8168, Ser. PADL660256, Pt. No. 657650, MFR. 06481." The ASN-74 IMU is a Litton first-generation inertial system and was used with various outer cases in many US military aircraft. It uses two G-200 two-axis gyroscopes and three accelerometers. The synchro electromechanical computer unit on the top is rarely found together with the platform since they were typically separated for maintenance purposes. The unit bears several service and overhaul tags and labels, three of which are dated to 1988. In fine condition, with scattered marks and scuffs.
